In
order to open a window of opportunities to practising engineers, the Institution
offers the postgraduate programme to its Graduates and Corporate Members in selected
engineering disciplines
. This programme facilitates the
members to widen their knowledge and acquainting them with new and emerging technologies
to upgrade their competence in the competitive industrial environment.
This facility will continue for existing registered candidates only. No fresh registration
shall be accepted.
Postgraduate Diploma Examinations
The
Summer 2012 Postgraduate Examination will be held at six
centres (namely, Kolkata, Delhi, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Ahmedabad and Chennai) during
period May 03-06,
2012. Students are advised to go through the printed programme (despatched to all
registered candidates) prior to filling-up the examination form which is to be submitted
to IEI latest by
March 31, 2012.

The Examination Form must be filled-in and signed by the candidate. The candidate
shall give the correct Code Numbers of the Examination Centre, Branch and Subject
(s), in which he/she desires to appear, and the 8-digit postgraduate registration
number in the spaces provided for in the examination application form. The Institution
reserves the right to reject incomplete/illegible/late receipt of examination forms.
A candidate shall
be allowed to appear in
five subjects(maximum) at a time. The subject(s) chosen for the examination should
be strictly within the five subjects which the candidate had opted at the time of
registration, or as modified by him/her in writing (see relevant rule).

Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra has recently informed
the Institution that the M.E. course, being conducted jointly with BIT, Mesra and
IEI will not be continued further due to some impasse in the system. Under the circumstance,
fresh registration for Part I of the said postgraduate course has been suspended.

Applications received from
aspiring candidates as on date for the purpose of fresh registration are being returned
with refund of full registration fee.

Candidates, already registered
for Part I/Part II of Postgraduate Diploma examination and those who are already
registered for Postgraduate Degree programme, will not be able to complete Postgraduate
Degree (M.E.Degree) from BIT, Mesra. They can complete Postgraduate Diploma programme
only from the Institution within the stipulated period. Postgraduate Diploma, issued
by the Institution has no recognition by any statutory body. Existing students are
requested to send their consent (up to Postgraduate Diploma level) at the earliest
in order to update the records of all individual candidates. Candidates, who will
not be interested to pursue Postgraduate Diploma, full registration fee will be
refunded to them. A separate letter to all registered candidates at their recorded
address is being sent separately from IEI.

It may be noted that Summer
2012 Postgraduate Diploma examination will be conducted during May 03-06, 2012.
Printed copy of the Examination Programme, Examination Application Form, etc. have
already been sent to all the registered candidates at their recorded addresses with
a request to submit the examination application form with requisite examination
fee of Rs2200/-so as to reach in this office latest by 31 Mar 2012.
