The
Application forms for enrolment as Senior Technician (ST) /
Technician (T) members of the Institution are received throughout
the year. Sections 'A' and
'B' Examinations of the Institution are held twice a year, generally
in June and in December and are termed as SUMMER and WINTER
Examinations, respectively.
A
candidate wishing to appear in the Institutions Examination should
apply first for enrolment as a member using prescribed ST/T
application form. If he
is found eligible for enrolment as a member, he may be able to
appear in the forthcoming Examination.

The
first examination that the candidates are eligible to appear shall
depend on their date of election as mentioned above. The stipulated
six-year period shall be counted from the date of eligibility.
All
newly enrolled ST / T members are supplied with a 'Membership
Pack' which contains
general information about the Institution, Rules and Syllabi of the
Institution Examinations and the Examination Application Form along
with other related forms and ’Study
Material’ for the following
four subjects :
i)
Fundamentals of Design and Manufacturing (AN 201
/ AD 301)
ii)
Material Science and Engineering (AN 202 / AD
302)
iii)
Computing and Informatics (AN 203 / AD 303)
iv)
Society and Environment (AN 204 / AD 304)
While
applying for ST / T membership, the applicants from India and
Nepal have to pay Rs. 4800/- only (Membership Fee Rs. 2000/- +
Membership Pack Rs. 600/- + Study Material Rs. 2200/-). The overseas
applicants have to pay US$ 530 only for ST membership and US$ 510
for T membership..
The
existing ST / T members may obtain the following :
'Membership

only for candidates from India and Nepal and US$ 60 only for
the overseas candidates, including postage.
'Study
Material' -- Rs.
2200/-
only for full set of books on all four subjects or Rs. 550/-
only for individual book on each subject for candidates from from
India and Nepal and US$ 220 only and US$ 55 only, respectively, for
the overseas candidates, including postage.
The
demand draft for the amount as applicable should be drawn in favour
of 'The Institution of Engineers (India)' and made payable at
Kolkata.

Life Corporate Members (FIE/MIE/AMIE) desiring to obtain the
photo identity card may apply on a plain paper indicating
their name, membership grade and number enclosing two copies
of colour photographs measuring 3 x 3 cms and remitting Rs.
150/- only for India / Nepal and US$ 15 only for other
countries (Rs. 200/- only and US$ 20 only, respectively,
with effect from July 01, 2009) in the form of a demand
draft drawn in favour of ‘The Institution of Engineers
(India)’ and payable at Kolkata. For
